Little Golden Dassalo is an interactive affair, bound to keep the audience engaged with Dassalo’s exuberant antics and sharp wit.

A grown-up version of story time, Dassalo hands out books for the audience to follow while watching the show.

“In bits of the stories I tell, there’s pictures in the book that tie in to what I’m talking about,” Dassalo said.

“It’s something different for me . . . I think it’s going to be really fun.

“It’ll be a unique, cool experience, or it will be a colossal disaster, the likes of which no one has ever seen before – either way it will be memorable.”

Dassalo said he’d always enjoyed incorporating illustration into his shows, and that the interactive book element individualises Little Golden Dassalo.

The 29-year-old comedian, based in Melbourne, has been winning praise ever since he was a runner-up in Triple J’s Raw Comedy Competition in 2005.

He hosts a popular weekly podcast, The Little Dum Dum Club, with fellow comedian Karl Chandler.

Each week they chat with a different character from the Australian comedy scene.

Dassalo said he and Chandler try to travel to every state twice a year to do live shows.

“If you’re trying to make a living out of doing comedy, you need to travel a lot and you need to try to be as universal and relatable as you can,” he said.

Dassalo said he’s a fan of Launceston.

He recently visited Launceston for the Esk BeerFest to perform a gig and soak up the atmosphere.

He said he found performing in Tasmania “amazing”.

“People come out and audiences are really enthusiastic . . . I’ve always found it really great,” Dassalo said. “Hopefully I get a bit more time to look around this time.”

Dassalo is also studying for a degree in animation at university in Melbourne.
